Although Republic Governor Tom Corbett is expected to be re-elected next year, State Treasurer, Rob McCord, has confirmed that he will be joining the Democratic crowd to run for governor!
McCord has become the eighth Democrat to declare candidacy. He says the reason he has decided to run is because he wants to invest in Pennsylvania families and provide more opportunities for young people.
McCord has already hired campaign staff and formed a fundraising committee. While Corbett’s political support continues to stay at a low level, Democrats believe that a strong challenger could make governor Corbett the first governor that would not be re-elected since they were allowed to be re-elected for second terms since 1974.
