A woman from western Pennsylvania finally got her high school diploma right in time for her 103rd birthday!
Hazel Marie Attenborough Cichowski,dropped out of high school during her junior year at Pittsburgh’s South Side high school to go to work during the Great Depression. For 45 years, Cichowski worked at the West Penn Hospital.
She says that she always loved going to school, however, had to work. Now, at 102, she was presented with an honorary high school diploma during a meeting at the Pittsburgh Public Schools board. Her 103rd birthday will take place on Saturday, September 28th.
