Mother Monster officially premiered the music video for her brand new single, Applause. The 27-year-old actually stopped by Good Morning America today to premiere it, as well as participate in her first television interview in a loooong time. “I’m so excited to see you at the premiere of my video at Good Morning America in 5 hrs!” Gaga wrote on her social media accounts the night before. “I am grateful to share this new experience with you! I’ve thought of you fans every moment since the last BTW Ball, & dreamt everyday how I could make it up to you. Only with your happiness comes mine.”
The video is as weird and full as all of Lady Gaga’s others. Here is what is known about it so far
- It is dedicated to her “little monsters” (i.e. her fans). She also wrote on her twitter that “Its inspired by the entertainers passion for shapeshifting. Would you do ‘anything’ for the Applause? Iconography in motion, as magic. -GAGA”
- Gaga reunited with directing duo, Inez & Vinoodh, on the video. And, she was very hands on in its creation. “I watched the whole editing process. I went to New York with her and sat in a room for two days while she color corrected and went through the video frame by frame. She is such an intricate part of everything that moves, that it’s all a part of the same vision,” White Shadow said. “She’s very into making sure that everything has its place. The video is really fun and exciting and she looks awesome in it. … It’s Lady Gaga! It’s a Lady Gaga video! It’s a good video. It’s really fun.”
Gaga is also due to perform the single live at the VMAs on August 25.
