More Aging Adults Facing Mental Health Issues

Everyone gets older and ages, but a new report finds that more and more aging adults are facing more than physical problems. A new report shows that 1 in 5 seniors are facing mental health and substance abuse problems.

Over the next two decades millions of Baby Boomers are rapidly aging, but they are facing struggles finding care and companionship for their mental health problems such as depression and loneliness. This is all due to shortage of doctors, nurses and other workers. The nation is not focusing much on mental health with these Baby Boomers, but rather on their physical health.

Today, there are nearly 6.5 million to 8 million Americans over the age of 65 who have mental health conditions or substance abuse. Of course just because a person is getting older does not mean that they will develop mental issues, but if they do develop a disorder it is often overlooked
